7 tips to: extend your mobile’s battery life

Nowadays almost everyone owns a super-duper smartphone with a zillion of new features  than its predecessor.  But while everything develops to a more efficient way, the battery development on a mobile is almost stable.

So, on this post I would like to present some useful tips  from my personal experience, in order to extend your battery life when you need it.Here we are.

  1. Turn Bluetooth off: I think it’s clear. Switch it on, only when you need it. Anyway it’s a security hole. So double reason.

  2. Turn wifi off: Wireless internet maybe is the alpha and omega of the new cloud-based smartphones, but consumes *a lot* of battery. Try to abridge it. (edit: if you don’t have a data plan, you can switch 3G off too, thanks Christos)

  3. Reduce brightness: Personally I reduced my brightness down to 40% and I gained almost a *day* in batter life. If you don’t have problem with a little bit darky screen, go for it.

  4. Disable keypad sounds & vibrating alerts: No comment. Anyway I find them annoying.

  5. Select power save mode: (or something relevant) If you need your phone for an important thing and see your battery is 20% or 10% , look for this option. It maybe be “life saving”.

  6. Charge it when it drains off battery: Many say that it’s a myth, but I can confirm you that it just works.

  7. Last but not least, turn off your phone in the subway or any environnement with no coverage. When there is no coverage, the phone keeps searching for network for nothing. For a long run underground or into the country it can drain all your battery in minutes.

These are my little tips. I hope you find them useful. If you have a personal tip don’t hesitate to share it in comments.
